Winter Warming Bath Salts Recipe

Updated: May 23

Beat the cold weather with this bath salts recipe. This would be a good bath if you had a cold, flu, sore muscles, or achy joints. Or if you just wanted to warm up a bit.

  • 1 cup Dead Sea salt or Pink Himalayan salt

  • 1 cup magnesium chloride flakes (not Epsom salts, this is important. Magnesium chloride flakes are available on Amazon.

  • 1 tablespoon liquid castile soap (peppermint castile soap would be great in this) or dish soap

  • 6 drops eucalyptus radiata (Eucalyptus radiata or E. globulus) essential oil

  • 8 drops lemon (Citrus limon) essential oil

  • 6 drops peppermint (Mentha × piperita) essential oil

Mix the essential oils with the liquid castile soap. Fill the bathtub with very warm water. Add the salts, magnesium flakes and the soap with the essential oils. Mix well. Get in, relax, breathe deeply and let this blend do its thing for 15-20 minutes.

Caution: Peppermint essential oil is contraindicated for those with a history of atrial fibrillation. You can substitute ginger (Zingiber officinale) essential oil.
